Documents and information
Your exact checklist may change based on your circumstances. Start with the following:
- Completed Application for National Insurance Number
- Proof of age, such as a birth certificate or passport
- Applicant’s full name, date of birth, address and contact information
- Employment or self-employment information, where applicable
- Supporting name-change document if records use different names
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security registers applicants and may request additional documents based on the applicant’s circumstances.

Check Official NIS individual registration formBefore you request a quotation.
What should I send first?
Start with a short description of the request, the relevant deadline and a list of the documents you already have. Do not send original documents unless collection has been specifically agreed.
Are official fees included?
Government, registry, delivery and third-party professional fees are separate unless the written quotation expressly includes them.
Can Ask Uncle Winston submit the application for me?
It depends on the particular process. Some agencies require the applicant to attend, sign, provide biometrics or submit personally. We will confirm what can be handled administratively.
How long will the service take?
Our expected completion time is confirmed after reviewing the request. Any government or third-party processing period begins after submission and remains outside our control.
